ShelterBox monitors Indonesia earthquake impact
ShelterBox is currently monitoring the impact of an earthquake and subsequent tsunami warning on Indonesia.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported two quakes of 8.2 and 8.6 magnitude off the west coast of Northern Sumatra. The larger quake was recorded by USGS around 270 miles from Banda Aceh, which was devastated by the tsunami of 26 December 2004.
The effects of the quake have been felt throughout Indonesia and many coastal areas have seen residents fleeing for higher ground.
ShelterBox is on standby to respond and holds pre-positioned aid in the country for rapid deployment if required.
